Fifth Annual Conference of the International Society for the Study of Drug Policy

Utrecht, May 23-24, 2011

UtrechtMartin Jelsma, Tom Blickman and Pien Metaal participated in the Fifth Annual Conference of the International Society for the Study of Drug Policy, ISSDP Conference 2011, organized by Trimbos Institute in Utrecht (The Netherlands) the 23 and 24 of May.

The goal of this conference is to share information, findings and methods as well as to facilitate collaboration among a broad set of top international scholars and policy makers.

The conference has been of interest to policymakers, practitioners, and academics from a wide array of disciplines who are engaged in drug policy analyses pertaining to drug markets, the harms caused by both the supply of and demand for drugs, and the intended and unintended consequences of drug policy.

Martin Jelsma participated in a panel and debate on the UN Drug Conventions: Thinking beyond the drug conventions: constructing some concrete proposals, as well as in a workshop on the on the issue of unintended consequences of drug policy: Experiences of producer and transit countries.

Tom Blickman chaired a panel on Economics of production and trafficking: The microeconomics of cocaine production and trafficking in Colombia. And, Evaluation of the drug market and its segments: the case of Italy.
