Edwards has lived in Ecuador since 1991, where she has worked for the Latin American Council of Churches and international NGOs.  Since 1995 she has worked as an independent consultant on issues of human rights and forced migration for NGOs such as Oxfam-UKI and the American Friends Service Committee.  She is also a consultant for WOLA, monitoring U.S. drug policies and its impact on human rights and democracy in Ecuador.  Before moving to Ecuador, she lived in Central America.  She has a Masters in Education from Harvard University.
